Sales Tax Free Week off and running. CRMA/PAC event scheduled for Sept. 9th. Annual Meeting beginning to take shape. Retail News and Notes.
· As you receive this week’s Friday Facts we are closing in on the homestretch of another Sales Tax Free Week. From what we can tell so far it has been a good one.
· Over the last two days, we have been “in the field” so to speak and have spoken to store personnel about this year’s Sales Tax Free Week and have been pleasantly surprised.
· Business has been brisk with lots of shopping and full parking lots. The sales tax free week ends this Saturday.
· The week got a big boost this year thanks to Governor Rell and her personal involvement in helping to promote the only statewide sales tax relief effort.
· The governor held a kick off press conference last week and has produced a number of Public Service Announcements that have been running all week to remind CT shoppers that this is a week in which they can save money.
· We would love to know how you did during the week. If you can take just a moment and send us an email at www.crmaonline.com and give us your thoughts.
· We will be doing a more detailed survey within the next week, but in the meantime, if you could share your thoughts and input they are always welcome.
CRMA/PAC Event
· Thank you to those companies that have already submitted ads or have purchased tickets for our upcoming PAC Fundraiser that is scheduled for September 9, 2004.
· As you know by now, the CRMA/PAC is hosting a breakfast on September 9th to raise money for our PAC. Tickets for the breakfast are $20.00.
· Also, to comrade the event, we are selling ads in an ad book. Full page ads are $250.00 and ½ page ads are $125.
· Remember, CT law allows for only personal checks for the purchase of tickets while corporate checks are allowable for the purchase of ads.
· Please give every consideration to the purchase of tickets or an ad. It is very important that we have a strong PAC and this event will go a long way in that effort.
Plans for the CRMA Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon underway.
· Please mark your calendar for October 26, 2004 as the day of the CRMA 2004 Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony.
· Details are still being worked on, but this much we already know, the event will be held again this year at The Autorino Great Hall at The Bushnell, in Hartford, CT.
· Look for more information on our annual meeting, including registration material and keynote speaker, within the next couple of weeks.

· Prepare Your Business for the New $50 Bill
The Federal Reserve will begin issuing the new $50 note on Sept. 28, 2004. Like the new $20 bill that was issued in 2003, this bill will include enhanced security features and new background colors to help prevent counterfeiting. NRF has set up a resource page filled with information on the new $50 bill to help prepare the retail community for the effects that the new currency will have on businesses.
