• The CRMA Annual Meeting and luncheon is now just one week
away.
• Over the next couple of days we will be sending you some
last minute information regarding the event, but it is not to
late to register.
• The luncheon will be held on Thursday November 10, 2005 at
the new Connecticut Convention Center. The cost of the lunch
is only $35.
• Also, there is still time to be one of our sponsors,
although time is running out on that front. If you are
interested in being a sponsor, please call us today.
• If you have already sent in your registration information,
we thank you and look forward to seeing you on November 10th.
Capitol News and Notes:
• Will they ever go home?
• This week the General Assembly was back in special session
to deal with the issues that have come up since the end of the
regular session.
• They have yet to come up with enough votes for campaign
finance reform.
• A number of Legislators had fundraisers scheduled for this
week but had to cancel them due to the special session.
• Good news: Tuesday of this week the Governor singed into law
HB 2100, the so called energy assistance bill that creates a
sales tax free period for certain household energy products.
(see FF of two weeks ago)
• The sales tax free period runs from Nov 25 – April 1.
• Also this week the Governor once again vetoed a contract
reform bill that the legislature passed.
• The reform bills passed by the Legislature are in response
to the scandals of the Rowland administration, where last week
the former chief of staff and a leading CT contractor pleaded
guilty to bid rigging charges.
